Mrs. Angie Jack!!!

Hopefully by now all of you know that Angie and I recently married. Angie has been asking me every once in a while over the past several months "When?" To answer that question...April 21, 2009. Marriage is something we had talked about together for some time and we both knew it is what we wanted. I was the one dragging my feet.

A few days before we left for our Idaho trip I officially proposed to Angie and gave her an engagement ring. She didn't hesitate even for a moment and in fact frequently asked me to say it again. She liked hearing it. I loved asking it!

We arrived back from Idaho Monday and had planned all along for a decompress day Tuesday before going back to work. Part of our plans were to catch up on all the errands we needed to do since we were out of town and I had been on a business trip prior to our vacation.

During our errand running, we stopped by the Shane Company, picked out a wedding band to match her engagement ring, and a wedding band for me. All our previous marriage discussions revolved around simply going to the courthouse and not having a wedding ceremony, so in our travels we stopped by the courthouse, went to the clerk, and had our "wedding". We were both very excited and still are!

Welcome to the family OFFICIALLY, Mrs. Angie Jack....and of course Sidney too. I love you.

Easter in Idaho

I have totally neglected the blog again, so this update may (or may not) include some items not related to Easter in Idaho. However, that is probably the biggest thing that has happened since the last update...well with the exception of one other item, but that item deserves a completely separate posting.

Angie's brother Mike and family planned on going to visit Roxann and Donaldo in Idaho for a belated Easter celebration. Their plan was to take the train with the boys, but even the best laid plans don't pan out sometimes. When Mike and family arrived at the train station toting their bags behind them, and the boys strapped onto their backs they were presented with the fact that the train wasn't going any further west than Minnesota due to flooding. Time to move to a backup plan and drive.

Angie, Sid, and I flew to Spokane on Thursday where Roxann picked us up and drove us the 2 hours back to their house, but not before an errand to Costco and lunch at the Mongolian BBQ in Coeur d'Alene. Once we arrived at the cabin, Angie and I settled into the apartment over the garage and Sidney made herself at home in her room. Shortly after settling in, Don says to me "Oh? You want to go fishing tomorrow?". Everyone knows what an avid fisherman Don is, and I too love to get out fishing so I was definitely up for it. Now we just had to convince the ladies, which was really not difficult.

Friday morning, we set off for our fishing trip, stopping at the sportsman shop for our licenses and suggestions for fishing spots. One place suggested was Antelope lake which Don wanted to go check out. It turns out the lake was completely iced over still, not to mention the road needed some Spring attention since the weather had caused some damage over the winter. From here we decided to head back to find another fishing spot. We ended up stopping in Clark Fork, hiked down the stream a ways and fished for a couple hours in the river. Fishing conditions looked as if they should be good, but there was no activity. After a couple hours of this, Don looked at his watch and proclaimed it to be Beer:30, so we drove into the town of Clark Fork and had a couple PBR drafts while shooting some pool.

Mike and Family arrived Friday night after a long couple day drive from Michigan. Mike and Teresa were ready to hand the boys off and Roxann, Angie, and Sidney were happy to oblige. We all spent a fabulous weekend together relaxing in the cabin, going for walks along the loop, enjoying evening drinks and dinners, etc. This time provided me a great opportunity to get to know more of Angie's family, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Night at the Observatory

Last night Sidney's class had a night time field trip to the Chamberlin Observatory in Denver. It has been so long, I can't even remember the last time I visited one. It was probably way back when I was in school.
There were a very limited number of spaces available so we had to RSVP in order to reserve our spot. Sidney's friend and classmate, Lily, joined us. We picked Lily up at her house and went to Buffalo Wild Wings for a quick dinner. Everytime we go here, I end up being disappointed, but that's for another forum. Besides, you can't complain too much on 60 cent boneless night.

After dinner we drove to the observatory where the astronomers explained how different types of telescopes work. This observatory is very old and is considered historical so they have a refractor type. It's about 25 feet long and has a very large lens. After the telescope presentation everyone got to go upstairs to look at the moon and Saturn through the telescope.
The kids really enjoyed the entire experience and so did Angie and I.
